Our morning begins as we make our way up to the top of the Lion's Head which overlooks the dynamic city of Cape Town.
Expect an early start with one of the most well-known hikes in Cape Town: a hike up Lions Head. A winding path that wraps around the cone-shaped peak on Signal Hill offers you an ever-changing 360-degree view over the beautiful 'Mother City' of Cape Town as it is affectionately known by locals. It is a spectacular hike to the top and although steep at times, the stunning views of Cape Town on the way up will keep you motivated to reach the top. Fresh coffee and home-baked treats revive the body before we head back down to sea level
With a better understanding of the city layout, we descend and wander through the inner city, soaking up the magical vibe of Cape Town, through a combination of tales of the past combined with modern day culture, and meet some of the absorbing communities which form the town’s vital building blocks. Through food, design, arts and crafts, we discover historical sites like Company's Garden, Green Market Square and St George's Cathedral, which served as the backdrop for memorable icons who changed the world. Depending on your interests, touch on the fascinating and controversial politics that have shaped the city - delving into recollections of the once-vibrant District 6 community or perhaps the occasion where Mandela made his first free speech.
From here we make our way to the colourful Bo-Kaap area in the historic city center. Here we will spend time exploring the cobbled streets and spice markets to experience a lively suburb filled with brightly coloured houses from as early as the seventeenth century, Muslim saint shrines, and many beautiful Mosques.
For lunch, we head to the vibrant city centre, known for its gastronomic delights on offer, for a well-deserved lunch at one of the local restaurants or cafes.
Continue your day as a true local, the playground of Cape Town's beautiful city offers a variety of activities to choose from. Your Adventure Guide will guide you through the choices that will best highlight your day. Fancy an active start by hiking up Table Mountain or Lions Head, paddleboarding in the V&A Waterfront canals, gliding across the Atlantic Seaboard in a kayak may be more your pace, or simply cruising on retro tandem bike along the iconic Sea Point Promenade.
Next, we'll explore the Watershed's quirky craft, design, and township art projects, geared towards community upliftment, before ending the day with a refreshing drink at a local hangout in the city!
