Kwantu Private Game Reserve is a place of immersion, a retreat and gathering safari place with an absorbing and spirited atmosphere. Located in South Africa’s malaria-fee adventure province, between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, the 6 000 hectare, big five, five-star nature reserve is positioned in one of the most biologically varied regions of the country. Kwantu Private Game Reserve is located on the legendary Sidbury Plains, in the heart of Frontier Country, along the banks of the Bushman’s River – a mere hour’s drive from Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

The Pollard Inn Hotel is the ideal location for an African Safari for the whole family as it is situated in an enclosed area of the big 5 game reserve. Being near to the sporting and entertainment facilities you can have peace of mind knowing your family is safe while you relax and unwind with us.

Activities:

Game Drives:
From the comfort of our specially equipped open Land Rovers, you encounter the impressive BIG 5 roaming freely on the Sidbury plains. Here the white rhino, monarchs of the African bush roam the plains as freely as they did hundred of years ago. Delight in the entertaining squabbles and games of the playful Vervet monkeys or Chacma baboons, the original comedians of the wild! Indulge your fascination as you stumble upon a family of warthog, digging for roots or speeding across the lains with their trademark “tails held high”. You’ll be awestruck by our zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, and many of the common and rare antelope who have roamed these plains for centuries. From the delicate solitary Blue duiker, who melts out of the brush at the edge of a clearing, to the towering kudu bull, who fixes his gaze on you as he browses nearby. At night the porcupine, aardwolf, caracal, and other nocturnal explorers and predators patrol the silent, inky darkness.

Bird Watching:
Birding enthusiasts will be able to view a great diversity of birds within the savannah habitat. More than 250 species having been recorded in the area. The summer months between November and March are the best time for birding as resident species are boasting their breeding plumage and the intra-African and Palaearctic migrants are still around.
