Trip Summary

Get off the beaten track in region of Elgin which is fast becoming known as the Capes Adventure valley. Start the day with a hike along an old wagon trail skirting fynbos clad mountains trails into a family vineyard for lunch. By contrast in the afternoon we become marine focused as we follow one of South Africa's most scenic coastal roads via Penguin Colony's and Botanical gardens back to Cape Town.

Depart Cape Town and you know the adventure is about to begin as you head over Sir Lowry’s Pass, with incredible views across the city and back along the R44 coastal road.

As you head inland into the Elgin Valley with its wealth of hiking and boutique wine estates, you will have the opportunity to stretch your legs and to immerse yourself in the fascinating Fynbos for a gentle hike in this beautiful region which is also home to the elusive Cape Leopard.

After your hike, we can head over to a wine estate for a cheeky tasting, before

we make our way to a Boutique Family Wine Estate for an alfresco lunch with the chance to get involved and explore a working wine farm. You will have the opportunity to either sit back and relax, or to refresh yourself with a swam on the farms dam.

The afternoon will be spent along on of the Cape's most scenic coastal roads.

Returning back to Cape Town by the scenic R44 follows that hugs the most dramatic coastline. Look out for dolphins as we cover this scenic route all along the coast. On the way we’ll stop at Betty’s Bay to visit its resident colony of African penguins, plus, time allowing, the fascinating Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens, home to more plant species than any other garden in the world. Your guide will show you how to make use of traditional plants, perhaps preparing fresh iced tea, as you explore the nature trails that lead up into Disa and Leopard’s Kloof.

This Private Cape Adventure is a superb way to experience some of the most beautiful and diverse regions in this southern part of Africa.
