2-nights Blackwaters River Lodge - Knysna

Blackwaters River Lodge is conveniently situated just off the N2, between Knysna and Sedgefield opposite the Buffels Bay turn off. It is just 10 minutes from the quaint towns of Knysna and Sedgefield and 15 minutes from the friendly Blue Flag Buffels Bay bathing beach.

A 4–star guesthouse with 20 beautifully decorated rooms, all with a touch of nature. 12 Luxury suites have private balconies overlooking pristine forests and the Goukamma River. 8 Classics suites have private patios that look into the well-maintained gardens or the golf course. In the manor house there is a cosy lounge with a ladies bar, plasma screen television, full DSTV package and log fire for the winter months.

Experience the rustic eatery, Earth & Fire Restaurant, with its intimate indoor dining area and outdoor deck overlooking the golf course and pristine indigenous forests. Let the chefs tantalise your taste buds with home cooked meals and freshly baked breads from our wood fired oven. Guests at the lodge can enjoy bird watching, an indigenous tree walk, canoeing, stand up paddling, wine tasting, Par 3 golf as well as total peace and tranquility.

Activites at the lodge:

MASHIE GOLF COURSE
The Golf Course is a very challenging 9-hole / 18 Tees par 3 Mashie (pitch & putt). The longest hole is 152m, and the shortest is 52m. The Course has been designed so as not to detract from the natural beauty of this most fertile valley. Equipment hire is available to players.

EARTH & FIRE RESTAURANT
Guests at Blackwaters River Lodge and golfers can experience our intimate on-site Earth & Fire Restaurant. What was originally the tractor shed is now a cosy indoor dining area and outside deck overlooking the golf course. As far as possible we grow our own vegetables in our green house on the property and fresh has never had a more true meaning. We support our local farmers and producers with many food items we serve freshly on you plate. Open for breakfasts from 9am, bookings essential. In-house guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast from 8am in the restaurant.

Guests also have the choice to spend the day on the river banks soaking up the peace and tranquility with family and friends while enjoying a pre-arranged deli picnic basket. 

"19th HOLE" PUB
Our “19th hole” pub has become our social spot with guests of Blackwaters River Lodge and golfers mingling after a game of golf. Come and join us for something cold, whether that is a local crafted beer or cold drink, and take in the welcoming atmosphere that is true to Blackwaters River Lodge. Guests returning from their river canoeing, sometimes prefer a hot cup of hot chocolate instead of a cold beer. Either way, the restaurant offers great food and drinks to wind down after playing golf or canoeing.

CANOEING AT BLACKWATERS
The lodge has single and double canoes available. The Goukamma River flows all the way to Buffels Bay – some 11 kms, +\- two and a half hours paddling time. For the “super-fit” a row “there and back” and for the less energetic collection at a nominal fee from the Goukamma Nature Reserve can be arranged. So as to ensure energy levels are kept up, picnic baskets can be ordered. On your trip you will need: binoculars, sun hat, sun screen, insect repellent and water.
