The day begins with a welcome briefing from your Egyptologist. Departing the hotel, you are just steps away from the great Pyramids of Giza and museum that houses the 4,500-year-old pharaonic Solar Boat. 

Continue to the famed Sphinx at the base of the Great Pyramid to have the exclusive experience of standing between the paws of the great statue.

Take in the breathtaking viewpoint over the sites of Giza where you will also enjoy a short camel ride in the shadow of the Pyramids.  Lunch will be served in a local restaurant.

Set out this morning for a trip to Memphis, the first capital of Egypt, where your tour will begin with a visit to the imposing statue of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx.

In nearby Sakkara, the Step Pyramid of Zoser along with impressive tombs of the nobles also in view are guaranteed to invoke awe.  

Lunch will be served in a nearby restaurant before proceeding to Dahsur. The Royal Necropolis Dahsur is home to the celebrated “Bent” and “Red” Pyramids which give great insight into the progression in construction of Egypt’s pyramids.

Day 4

    

Luxor

Depart the hotel this morning for Cairo’s domestic airport for your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, transfer to the brand-new Luxor Hilton where lunch will be served. 

This afternoon, your day will be highlighted with a visit to the great Karnak Temple built over a period of more than 1,000 years. It is one of Ancient Egypt’s premier sites. The day will conclude with a memorable sunset cruise aboard a traditional Nile sailing boat - a felucca - with wine and cheese served.

Today, journey across the Nile to the famed West Bank. Your tour will begin in the Valley of the Kings, a virtual “city of the dead” boasting incredible tombs carved into the rocks for pharaohs and royals. Your visit will include at least one entrance into the tombs.

Back across the Nile, board the elegant Sun Boat IV, your home on the Nile for the next 4 nights.  Lunch will be served on board before the he day continues with a visit to the Valley of the Queens and Hatshepsut Temple, believed to be Egypt’s only female Pharaoh. The spectacular temple is a series of terraces set against sheer limestone cliffs.

After a delicious breakfast buffet on board, your tour of the East Bank will begin with a visit to Luxor Temple.

Following the morning sail to Esna, enjoy lunch on board the boat.

After lunch, your Egyptologist will guide you around the Greco-Roman Temple of Khnum at Esna. The beautifully preserved Great Hypostyle Hall was built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Claudius; it was excavated from the silt that had accumulated through centuries of annual Nile floods and is about nine meters below present-day street level.

Afternoon tea will be served on board during the cruise to Edfu.

In the evening, a gourmet dinner will be served on board.

Day 7

    

Kom Ombo

Day notes

Enjoy breakfast on board, followed by a visit to the Temple of Edfu.

Lunch will be served on board while cruising to Kom Ombo. After lunch, visit the temple of Kom Ombo - dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek. The temple stands at a bend in the Nile where, in ancient times, sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank.

Return to your Nile Cruise boat where afternoon tea will be served in the lounge. You will also have the chance to take part in an Egyptian cooking lesson while the boat is sailing to Aswan.

Tonight’s entertainment will be an “Egyptian Night” costume party for all guests, with a chance to dress up in traditional Egyptian “galabeyyas”. Dinner will be a lavish buffet of Egyptian specialties.

Sanctuary Sun Boat IV

Day notes

A breakfast buffet will be served on board, after which you will have the morning at your leisure.

Enjoy lunch on board, followed by a short motorboat ride to visit the majestic Philae Temple on the Island of Agilika.

Next, proceed to the Granite Quarries which supplied the ancient Egyptians with most of the hard stone used in pyramids and temples, and still hold a huge unfinished obelisk. You will also have a chance take a ride on a felucca around Elephantine Island, Lord Kitchener’s Botanical Gardens, and the Agha Khan Mausoleum.

Afternoon tea will be served in the lounge. Tonight’s farewell dinner will be a gala dinner, with white-gloved waiters serving gourmet cuisine. Enjoy a Folkloric show and a Dervish show after dinner.

Disembark Sun Boat IV in the morning and proceed to Aswan airport for a short flight to Abu Simbel. In Abu Simbel, visit the world-renowned temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari. The magnificent temples are carved into limestone mountains with statues that rise over 20 meters high. Aside from their own grandeur, the temples are also renowned for the fact they were cut into blocks and moved to higher ground before the flooding of the High Dam. 

Following your visit, return to Abu Simbel airport for the flight back to Cairo.

Today includes one of the highlights of your trip, a visit to the Egyptian Museum, home to 7,000 years of history. The museum houses the world’s largest collection of artifacts from ancient Egypt.

Following your visit to the Egyptian Museum, lunch will be served in an Arabian restaurant.

Finally, enjoy some free time to browse the alleys of the bustling and colorful El Khaili Bazaar before returning to the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
