Day 1: Mauritius South Coast

On arrival at Mauritius’ Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, please proceed through Customs and Passport control and collect your luggage. Proceed to Counter No. 24 in the Arrivals Hall, where you will be met by a representative from Private Ocean Islands and transferred privately by road to Shanti Maurice Resort & Spa. Transfer time approximately 45 minutes.

Day 2: Mauritius South Coast

Full Day Rum & Tea Discovery Tour

Discover Bois Cheri the first tea plantation in Mauritius dating back to 1892. A guide will lead you through the factory and the tea plantation, offering you to discover the history, stories and tales of the Bois Cheri and the importance of tea productions in Mauritius. After the guided tour of the tea factory, you will visit the tea production museum learning more about the history of tea in Mauritius. The Bois Cheri offers a great panoramic view of the south of the island. End the visit at the chalet offering a great view on the lake and enjoy a delicious tea tasting of the different Bois cheri tea flavours.

On your way to Bois Cheri stop by Grand Bassin. Considered by many as the most sacred Hindu place in Mauritius, the Ganga Talao  is a  large  lake formed  out  of  a crater,  situated  near  the  western  boundaries of the island, atop the mount ains . It is surrounded by several colorful temples and idols of gods and goddesses; and witnesses a humongous fair every year during the festivals.

Located south of the island, a few kilometers north of Souillac, the estate of Saint Aubin has been cultivating sugar cane since 1819. The estate consists of a distillery, a beautiful colonial house once the residence of the former owner now transforms in a "Table D'h6te" restaurant. There is  also  an  anthurium greenhouse, a vanilla nursery and a gift shop. The distillery known for creating the first sugar cane-based rum of the island. The tour will show you all the rum trade secrets. The visit will end with a  rum cocktail workshop and tasting before going to the restaurant for a delicious lunch in a charming colonial ambience.

Le Domaine des Aubineaux, an oasis of greenery, peace and tranquility just steps from the town of Curepipe invites you to share the creativity and know-how of its local Chef.

It is in a historic setting that the chef of Les Aubineaux Restaurant will teach you the art and how to prepare a typical Mauritian dish. End the day by a visit to the 7 coloured earth & waterfalls of Chamarel, treasures not to be missed. The seven colored earth is a natural phenomenon and a prominent tourist attraction. The colors evolved through conversion of basaltic lava to clay minerals. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours. Next door to the 7 Coloured Earths is Chamarel Waterfall. Standing at 95m, this is the tallest waterfall in Mauritius and it ' s well worth visiting

Fresh seafood from the grill, salads, pasta, pizzas and even your personal catch cooked just the way you like it, are complemented by the sound of waves crashing at your toes. On the Rocks is open for lunch, dinner and light snacks throughout the day.

The Restaurant.

Naturally lit during the daytime and with magnificent ocean views, at night the fine dining restaurant takes on a different avatar. The reflection pool is lit by flaming torches, and across the ocean the twinkling lights of Port Louis harbour can be seen. Savour authentic Creole, international and Indian cuisine within the traditional thatched roof room, or al fresco under the stars. The Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner.

The Gunpowder Room.

An original gunpowder room dating back to 18th century French colonial Mauritius, the fine dining space exudes the charm of a bygone era; with rustic stones walls and floors, antique wine barrels and chandeliers. Traditional Creole cuisine is served on Monday to Friday evenings, while an Omakase Japanese menu is available for dinner on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Private dining is available by prior arrangement.

The Bar.

The bar is open sided with a traditional thatched roof and offers endless ocean vistas. Melodies played here every evening upon the ebony piano are carried on the gentle sea breeze. The Herb Trail.

On Saturday and Sunday nights, The Herb Trail hosts a unique Communal al fresco setting with an underground fire pit and smoke house set within a herb garden. A four course set menu of dishes slow cooked in an underground fire pit, purpose built within the herb garden. Delicacies include a smoke house meat and seafood sharing platter, lamb slow cooked for the whole day in the fire pit and hand-crafted desserts. Reservation required.

Day 8: Balaclava

Day 8: Sugar & Smile Tour

Mauritius, with its know-how in sugarcane cultivation and cane sugar manufacture forged over more than three and a half centuries, has since 1978, through continuous innovation, developed 17 different types of special unrefined sugars. Discover this unique product and it s history at l'Aventure du Sucre' and experience a live cane cutting in the Domaine de Beau Plan with explanation of the particularities of the plant in the fields. After the tour, visit the museum then enjoy the sugarcane crushing followed by a rum tasting.

Head to Chateau Labourdonnais , and enjoy a visit of "a chateau in a natural setting" where the history is beautifully merged with architecture, flora and orchards.

End the day with a delicious local lunch at 'Tante Athalie', the best-known table d'hôte in the area, it offers fresh, simple, wonderful Creole tastes overlooking a garden filled with vintage cars, an oasis-like feel to the place. Soon the savours will blend into your palate with a burst of flavours! The end results? Good Mauritian food which is absolutely delicious and simple!
