Day 1. (Lunch, Dinner)
Vehicle will collect you in the morning at a pre – arranged time for the drive to Nxai Pan National Park Entrance gate which is approximately two hours from Maun. Please take note that the safari vehicle is open and travel on the tar road can be windy. From Nxai Pan Entrance gate take a game drive to the majestic Baines Baobabs where you will stop for lunch. (Approx. 1.5 hours).
After enjoying a simple lunch and a brief walk around Baines Baobabs continue on with your drive to Nxai Pan Campsite. (2- 3 hours depending on road conditions). As this is a participation safari help is required to set up your tent, shower and toilet.
Once everyone is settled and the camp is up, time permitting, a short late afternoon game drive, return to camp just after sunset. Relax around the campfire listening to the sounds of the night. Dinner should be ready by about 7pm and it is served under the stars, listening to the wildlife.
Day 2. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Early morning wake up and breakfast. Breakfast consists of tea, coffee, juice, muesli, yogurt, fruit, muffins.
Spend the morning exploring Nxai Pan and returning to camp for lunch.
Outside seasonal rains, the only source of water is a one man made waterhole with water pumped from underground. Springbok and Impala congregate around this waterhole and occasionally attract Lion, Cheetah and sometimes even Leopard. Bull Elephants and Giraffe track between Nxai Pan and Makgadikgadi and they too are common residents at the waterhole. Bat eared fox and black backed jackal are also commonly seen.
Ostrich, Kori bustard and Secretary birds are quite common here too.
Have a siesta under the shade of a tree before departing for an afternoon drive.
Nxai Pan consists of many smaller pans which become covered in short grasses during the rainy reason. The landscape is dotted with umbrella acacia and some mopane woodland. Optimum time to visit is December - April. Into camp for Dinner.
Day 3. (Breakfast, Lunch)
Departure day. Pack up your tent and luggage and leave by the vehicle ready for loading. Short morning game drive around Nxai Pan. Back into camp for
Brunch. Slow drive back to Maun, arriving at approx. 13h00.
