Day 1: Labuan

Upon arrival you will be met by our local representative and  transferred to your hotel for a 2 night stay.

Day 2: Labuan

After breakfast you will be taken on a tour of the island, including a visit to Surrender Point where the Japanese Armed Forces surrendered at the end of World War II.  The island is also a duty-free centre, and duty-free goods of all descriptions can be obtained at reasonable prices. Return to your hotel for a two night stay.

Day 3: Kota Kinabalu

After breakfast you will be transferred to the port for a boat trip across the South China Sea to Kota Kinabalu. The voyage takes approximately three hours, and you travel in the air-conditioned first-class section of the boat. Upon arrival in Kota Kinabalu you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay. Your hotel is centrally located close to the city markets and restaurants and has good facilities.

Day 4: Kota Kinabalu

After breakfast you will be taken on a morning City Tour of Kota Kinabalu, including the Sabah Museum and main mosque. Balance of day free.  In the evening you will be taken to a restaurant for a dinner and folklore show.

Day 5: Kundasang

Day 6: Kinabatangan River

After breakfast depart by road for Sukau. The journey take approximately four hours, and en route you will visit the Gomantong Caves, which are the home of millions of swiftlets. Their nests are harvested and exported to China, where they form the main ingredients of bird’s nest soup. The caves are also the home of more than a million bats; and the local birdlife is particularly rich, including crested serpent eagles and kingfishers. After your visit continue to the Kinabatangan River and your lodge for a 2-night stay. This afternoon you will be taken on a boat trip down Sabah’s largest river and its tributaries. You will be accompanied by a naturalist and will have an opportunity to view the abundant wildlife, including proboscis monkeys, macaques, orang-utans, and many species of birdlife, including hornbills. Return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 7: Kinabatangan River

After breakfast you will be taken on another boat trip to the Oxbow Lake which is the abode of freshwater fish and otters. Wild elephants also are sighted occasionally. After lunch there will be an opportunity to take a walk on the nearby nature trails for a further jungle experience.

Day 8: Sepilok

Morning departure for Sepilok and the Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre. After a short video there will be an opportunity to watch the feeding of these orphaned apes. After viewing you may wish to visit the Rainforest Discovery Centre, which contains an exhibition of Sabah’s unique plants. In the afternoon there is the option to visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre which is within walking distance of your hotel. The Bornean Sun Bear is the smallest bear in the world and is considered close to being an endangered species.

Day 9: Sepilok
