The Wachau Valley by ship
After a delicious breakfast in the morning, jump onboard the coach for a short transfer to the beautiful town of Melk.
The town of Melk marks the start of the Wachau valley, famous for its wine-growing and apricots - locally known as "Marille".
Melk is also home to one of the country's finest monasteries - the Melk Abbey. As one of Europe's largest baroque ensembles, the history of the Benedictine Monastery goes back to the 12th century. Join in on a guided tour, and be awestruck by the magnificent rooms of Stift Melk.
A short walk takes you into the center of town, where you have time to explore and enjoy lunch.
Meet up after lunch and get on the boat for the highlight of today - your return journey by boat on the Danube along the Wachau Valley. Enjoy the natural beauty of the area, and see the vineyards stretching up along the hills and the cute villages dotted along the riverside.
The evening is spent at the renowned winery Nikolaihof in Krems, Austria's oldest winery. Working by the organic principles of the Demeter Organisation , the Nikolaihof serves only organic wines and food. Enjoy a lovely evening meal paired with some of the region's finest wines.
Return transfer to your hotel after dinner.

Not just wines are big in the Wachau. Did you know Krems has its own festival dedicated to the Marille - or apricot? Check out some of the shops in town that offer Marille-products en-masse!
