Day 1: Arusha

Arrive Kilimanjaro International Airport.

On arrival you will be met and transferred to Rivertrees Country Inn for one nights' accommodation in Arusha including dinner and breakfast.

Day 2: Central Serengeti

This morning you will be transferred to Arusha Airport for the scheduled flight to Seronera airstrip in the south central Serengeti. As you will be flying on a small, light aircraft you have a maximum baggage allowance of 15 kilograms per person. This allowance needs to include your hand luggage and baggage must be soft-sided and without wheels to fit into the luggage pod.

On arrival at Seronera airstrip you will be met by the guides from Nomad Tanzania and transferred to Serengeti Pioneer Camp where you will spend the next two nights including all your meals, selected drinks, selected laundry, private game drives and airstrip transfers.

Serengeti Pioneer Camp is the perfect introduction to the Serengeti National Park and has the most outstanding views over the Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi and the endless plains. Accommodation is in stylish canvas tents that offer all the luxuries you could possibly need and come with period-style hot showers to add to the ambiance.

Day 3: Central Serengeti

Full day in the Serengeti with your private guide to explore this amazing area.

In January herds of the wildebeest are to be found in the southern Serengeti on the short-grass plains.

Day 4: Ndutu

Today you will be transferred by your private guide and vehicle to Serengeti Safari Camp that will be located in the Ndutu area of the park.

Your two night stay will including all meals, house drinks, selected laundry and private game drives.

Serengeti Safari Camp is one of our favourite camps in the Serengeti which is why we think it's perfect for your holiday. The tents are wonderfully appointed and their en-suite bathrooms have new eco-flush toilets and safari-style bucket showers, as well as a wash-basin with cold running water. Hot water will be delivered as and when you'd like it by your tent attendant.

The camp staff and guides are genuine and welcoming and their thoughtfulness and passion for their country and this delightful camp are something that really struck a chord with us. Day 5: Ndutu

Full day in the Serengeti.

Expert tips

Activities include morning and afternoon private game drives (which offers more flexibility) in closed 4WD vehicles (with open-roof hatches) with a Nomad Guide, daily game viewing, great birding; opportunity to see the great wildebeest and zebra migration, large herds of plains game and the highest concentrate of predators in Africa.

One of the most incredible ways to see the Serengeti is in a hot air balloon. This amazing activity includes the transfers to and from the launch-site, the balloon ride and a hearty bush breakfast after the epic balloon ride. These trips cost around US$600 per person and it is advisable to book in advance as they are so popular.

Day 6: Lake Magadi

Today you will depart the Serengeti and make your way to Oldupai Gorge (originally misnamed Olduvai) for a visit to the most famous archaeological location in East Africa.

After your visit and a picnic lunch you will be transferred to Kirurumu Ngorongoro Camp for three nights including all meals.

This camp overlooks the Ngorongoro Conservancy, the Great Rift Valley escarpment, and Lake Eyasi.

Day 7: Lake Magadi

Included in your stay is two visits into the Ngorongoro Crater. Your Nomad guide will arrange a departure time with you and you will likely depart nice and early to make your decent accompanied by a packed picnic lunch.

Day 8: Lake Magadi

Full day in the Ngorongoro Crater.

Expert tips

Another day to explore this extraordinary collapsed caldera. You may as a group decide to spend the morning in the crater and enjoy the afternoon at your camp with its beautiful views.

Day 9: End of Itinerary

Today you will depart the Ngorongoro and transfer back to Arusha. Your departure will give you enough time to do a bit of shopping at a local market before you transfer to Mt Meru Hotel for a few hours day use including lunch.

Later on you will be transferred back to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight arrangements.
