After enjoying the solitude of the Cedarberg Moutains, we journey back to the Coast and the Namaqualand Region. This is the heartland of one of Nature's greatest ironies. This so-called arid, dull region, becomes a profusion of colour and splendour. Once the Spring rains fall, the transformation from almost lifeless to Eden's own garden is something to witness!
We enjoy a relaxed morning and breakfast. After packing up, we head out from the Cederberg, taking a scenic route to Lambert's Bay. We spend time along the quaint harbour and visit the Gannet colony. Lunch is had at a homely restaurant (own expense). From here, we continue off the beaten track, heading for Namaqua National Park.

We enjoy a picnic-style lunch on the beach, before returning in the evening to camp. Dinner is enjoyed around a fire.
Day notes
We continue our journey North, as we drive to the border of Namibia along the Gariep (Orange) River. Being the longest river in South Africa, it flows from the lush highlands of Lesotho, all the way west to the coast, giving life to this semi-desert region. We stop over at Augrabies Falls, a natural wonder where the River has carved itself a shortcut through solid rock, dumping more than half of the water of the Victoria Falls into a tiny gorge.
The plan for the day is to enjoy a relaxed morning and breakfast. We head further into the desert landscape of the arid north, and travel to Augrabies Falls National Park. Enjoy lunch at the camp as we settle in to our lodgings.
We take an afternoon game drive, returning to your accommodation to enjoy dinner over an open fire in the bush. A possible trip to the Falls lit up at night is recommended.

From here we travel on our longest route through the vast expanses of the Karoo south towards Cape Town, traversing some of the longest roads between two towns in South Africa. This landscape is an ancient inland sea and the vast flat spaces devoid of settlement are something to behold. At night, there is the serenity of night sky filled with stars.
We enjoy a relaxed morning and breakfast, before traveling down south to the town of Calvinia, with the world's largest post box! We enjoy a picnic lunch én route.
We check into our lodgings in the friendly town of Calvinia, with the afternoon to roam the safe town which seems stuck in a time-warp, with great architecture, museums, and friendly locals we enjoy a dinner in the evening (own expense).
