The Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is a Buddhist temple located overlooking the sea inGijang-gun, Busan. The temple, built in 1376, was demolished during the Japanese incursions of Korea from 1592–1598 but was rebuilt in the 1930s. The large temple complex is one of the few in Korea to be set on the seaside and as such, combined with its proximity to Haeundae Beach and the east side of Busan, the temple is popular with sightseers. A popular time to visit is during Buddha's Birthday celebrations when the complex is adorned with paper lanterns.
