The Ruhija Tourism Zone Batwa Cultural Experience takes place in an old-growth forest next to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park in Ikumba, Uganda. The experience starts with a nature walk through the forest where visitors will learn how traditional people hunted. Visitors will then be shown how the Batwa people lived in huts made of grass and trees and how tree-houses and caves were used as a shelter. An opportunity to learn hunting techniques with bow and arrow is open for visitors to enjoy. Visitors will visit a traditional Batwa homestead to learn how these people prepare, cook, and serve a meal with an opportunity to sample the dishes. The village's medicine men can share knowledge on the medicinal properties of the surrounding flora, and tell ancient legends and sing traditional songs.
