The Caminito or ‘little walkway’ Street Museum as it appears today was three years in the making. In the 1950s after the railroad in this part of La Boca closed, the area became an eyesore. Argentine artist Benito Quinquela was inspired to transform the buildings in the abandoned street with pastel paints, and erected a stage at its southern end, which later became a little theatre house. Since then, it’s become a popular street museum with a number of rich and diverse public art displays.
