Founded in the mid-18th century, Tân Châu has a population of around 185,000 people. Visitors to the Mekong Delta district in the An Giang Province of Vietnam can enjoy a variety of attractions and shopping expeditions. Tân Châu is famous for its silk products which are brightly dyed and woven in traditional patterns and a black silk called “Heavenly Beauty” which has been dyed using mulberries. The town is also well-known for its sedge grass weaving products such as mats and various items. Another popular activity is the art of cooking and visitors can learn techniques in preparing traditional Vietnamese cuisine.
