Recommended - Historical City Tour of Swakopmund with Nikola
After 20 years abroad and eight years in Windhoek, Nikola Fahrbach returned to the place of her childhood in 2019, where Angelica Flamm-Schneeweiss had been offering historical city tours for over 30 years and suggested that she join her company.
With much enthusiasm she accepted the offer because she had already dealt with the history of Swakopmund and Namibia for many years.
After two years of intensive cooperation, Angelica Flamm-Schneeweiss retired in 2021 and put the historical city tours completely in her hands.
Nikola is a great-granddaughter of Otto Günther, who came to Swakopmund in 1898 as a master locksmith for the pier construction. In 1908 he founded the company of the same name, which is still family-owned today as a household goods business.
It gives her great pleasure to bring visitors closer to her beloved Swakopmund with its eventful history and to talk about the versatile and complex topics of everyday life and living together with the most diverse ethnic groups.
The magical corners of Swakopmund are best explored by foot. With her wide knowledge and historical photos of “Old Swakopmund” Nikola Fahrbach offers two-hour guided tours through this charming coastal town which uniquely lies between the desert and the Atlantic Ocean.
You will learn more than simple facts and figures – Nikola will tell stories of intrigue and interest which will give colour and depth to life in this unique desert town during its early days, changing your perspective and understanding of Swakopmund’s development.
There will be enough time to answer any questions and add information about everyday life in today’s Namibia.
The tour can also be made wheelchair accessible.
Meeting Point is the Swakopmund Museum at the “Mole” where the history began.
