Situated on the South Island of New Zealand, in the beautiful Mackenzie area, Lake Pukaki is the region’s largest lake and is set against a majestic mountainous landscape. This alpine lake features numerous lookout points along its shoreline offering spectacular views of the 3754-metre-high Aoraki/ Mount Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand. Lake Pukaki is glacier-fed, and known for its mesmerising milky turquoise colour, which it gets from suspended particles in the water called ‘glacial flour’. Visitors to the lake can enjoy many activities including kayaking, hiking, cycling, or taking a scenic flight for a bird’s-eye view of the awe-inspiring scenery.
