Comuna 13, also known as San Javier, is one of Medellín’s urban communes, located in the western part of the city. It developed largely through informal settlement during periods of internal displacement. The area was affected by armed conflict and military operations linked to drug trafficking and illegal groups. In later years, community initiatives, public infrastructure projects, and visible street art became features of its social and cultural identity within Medellín’s wider urban administration structure.
