Situated in Chaing Mai Province, Doi Suthep-Piu National Park is a mostly granite mountain range with two mountain peaks, the Wat Phra That Doi Suthep temple as well as a few waterfalls. The park is ideal for hiking through many trail options as well as for travelers who wish to cycle or camp. Forests can be found in the park and are home to various mammal species and various birdlife. The climate is cool all year round due to the high altitude. The Buddhist temple is the main attraction in the park and is still a working monastery. It is deemed one of the most sacred sites in the region. Guests may be able to view the Bhubing Palace, home to the royal family. It is open to the public when the royal family is not there, for bird and butterfly watching.
