Trogón Lodge is set amidst the mystic cloud forest of San Gerardo de Dota, at 7,000 feet above sea level and at just 2 hours from San Jose. A unique destination for birdwatching, nature observation, hikes and to immerse in a rural yet comfortable experience.
The Lodge features 24 comfortable standard rooms and 01 superior room. All, are surrounded by the magical forest, the sounds of the river, the gardens and its natural beauty.
The Restaurant, El quetzal, stands out for its creative philosophy of using local and fresh ingredients (many coming from the garden, the trout ponds or the hydroponic garden) and for creating unique dishes fit for a mountain stay. Facilities also feature bar, reading room, amazing gardens and nature trails.
Most popular activity is the Quetzal Quest tour, that runs everyday, also complemented with birdwatching tours, nature walks, tour to the Páramo or adventurous hikes
Standard rooms are spread along the property gardens, set in modules, each of 2 units. All feature wonderful views towards the garden, or the river, or the trout ponds. Some are closer to the main facilities and others require a little bit more walking. In case of difficulties for walking please warn our staff in advance to do our best to accommodate property.
Rooms feature either a queen bed, a queen and a single, and few feature 2 queen beds (for family or quadruple use).
All feature an electric heating unit and private bathroom. Bathroom amenities include shower gel and shampoo plus hair dryer.
There's only one Superior room at Trogon Lodge.
it is perched up on a little hill, so it does require to climb a series of steps to reach it. Once up, the views of the Valley and the hotel below are amazing!

The Kitchen at Trogon is creative, colorful, Fresh and one that carefully considers the mountain Setting, when creating the different dish proposals. Costa Rican dishes combine with International ones, to create a Unique and tasteful proposal.
Many of the ingredients, including fruit like chilean papaya, figs, and apples come from our the hotel's gardens. Other veggies from the hotel's hydroponic garden and trout is grown here in the own ponds.

La cocina en Trogon es creativa, colorida, fresca y una que respeta y considera el ambiente alredor en su creación. Los platos costarricenses se combinan con los internaciones, para ofrecer una propuesta única y deliciosa.
Muchos de los ingredientes, incluidas varias frutas, como la papaya chilena, el tomate de palo, los higos y las manzanas, provienen de los jardines del hotel. Otros vegetales, de los jardines hidropónicos del hotel, y la trucha que se cultiva aqui en los lagos.
Existe toda una filosofa en la cocina, de apoyar a la comunidad local a la hora de comprar víveres, lo cual enrique el compromiso con el crecimiento sostenible.
