Princes Street is a major thoroughfare and main street in central Edinburgh, the hilly capital of Scotland. The street stretches 1.6 km from Lothian Street in the west to Leith Street in the east. With virtually no buildings on the Southside, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Old Town, Edinburgh Castle and the valley in between. Public transport is easily accessible, and most of the street is limited to trams, buses and taxis with only the East end open to all traffic.

Various hotels, department stores, clothing stores, and general stores make the area even more convenient to explore. The Princes Street Gardens contain the Ross Bandstand open-air theatre, a war memorial and a floral clock which dates from 1903 and displays a different theme every Summer.
