Makalali Main Lodge is a newly built 5 star lodge, It’s central area is strikingly designed with rustic structures that effortlessly redirect the outside elements indoors. It also features a chic library; a quiet space to reflect or retreat with a book.
Guests can enjoy an array of African cuisine in the main dining area, with its characteristic dual aspect fireplace that connects the bar lounge and dining area; perfect for keeping the night chill at bay and enjoying an intimate dinner. The outside area is distinctively designed around the natural surrounds with a spacious deck area built around indigenous trees, overlooking a watering hole.
Makalali is the ideal place to see wildlife interact and take in the scenery. Equally spectacular is the large crystal blue rim flow pool. Its comfy chairs and sun-loungers create an inviting ambience, paired with a signature Makalali drink, it concludes the day beautifully.
Enjoy an evening under the Africa night sky from the elegantly designed boma area and listen to the wildlife come alive.
Makalali Main Lodge comprises of 30 comfortably designed superior rooms all with en-suite bathrooms, with indoor and outdoor showers.

Game Drives
You could encounter the “Big Five” and an abundance of wildlife and birdlife on your game drive. Game drives are in open landrover’s and are conducted twice daily. An experienced tracker will impart his knowledge of the bush, game and birdlife to enhance your game drive. Coffee and rusks are provided on the morning game drives and guest can enjoy sundowners on the evening game drives. Game Drive times fluctuate through the year depending on the temperatures, but are generally as follows:

Dining is casual and relaxed and at Makalali, our chefs provide an array of dining experiences, from dinner in the bush or the legendary ‘boma dinner’ under the stars. Other options include the indoor-outdoor dining area where you can enjoy a plated dinner or a more casual family style dining with other guests.
