Located in the northern region of the stone quarries of ancient Egypt in Aswan, Unfinished Obelisk is a 3,500-year-old monument that was abandoned when cracks formed in the granite. If it were to have been completed, it would have measured at 42 metres and weighed around 1200 tons, making it the tallest and heaviest obelisk. As it is, the Unfinished Obelisk is the obelisk raisers' most grievous tragedy, a lasting reminder of the limits of human engineering.
