The National War Memorial is located in Confederation Square, in downtown Ottawa, Canada. The sculpture was built from 1926 to 1932 and was unveiled in May 1939, it serves as a solemn tribute to all Canadians who have served in times of war. The memorial is a tall granite arch with bronze figures representing Peace and Freedom. Underneath, are 22 figures which represent the many Canadians who fought in the First World War. This is accompanied by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which was added in front of the memorial in 2002.
