Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral is the oldest church in Canada and the first to be elevated to the rank of minor basilica by Pope Pius IX in 1874. It is located at 16, rue de Buade, in the heart of Old Quebec, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The church has a rich history and a neo-classical façade with two asymmetrical towers. Inside, visitors can admire the stained glass windows, the golden sculptures, the three Casavant organs, and the chancel baldachin designed by François Baillairgé. The church also has a crypt where four governors of New France and the bishops of Quebec are buried. The church has a holy door, the only one in the Americas, which is opened on special occasions.
