The Mosque of Muhammad Ali, located within Cairo’s Citadel of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi, was commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha in 1848. Constructed on the site of former Mamluk palaces, it follows a Turkish architectural style with an open courtyard and a domed prayer hall. The mosque features marble panelling, twin minarets, and two pulpits, one wooden and one marble. A copper clock tower in the courtyard was a gift from Louis Philippe of France.
