Commercial rafting on the Zambezi began in 1981 and has become a highlight of Victoria Falls itineraries. With spectacular scenery, warm water and world-class rapids, the Batoka Gorge offers an unforgettable adventure.
The Zambezi is a high-volume, pool-drop river featuring Grade 4 and 5 rapids. Over the 24 km route, the river drops approximately 122 metres.
GENERAL INFORMATION Minimum 4 guests; groups of up to 100 on request. Minimum age: 15 years. Proof of age may be required. No child rates. Morning, afternoon and full-day trips available. Average fitness required; no experience necessary. Swimming ability preferable but not essential. Rafting may close between January and June due to high water levels. Guests should leave valuables behind.
Emergency evacuation cover through Specialty Emergency Services (S.E.S.) applies only to life-threatening situations, excluding hospitalisation and medication. Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is compulsory. Guests must bring their policy details. The operator accepts no responsibility for uninsured guests.
WHAT TO BRING Hat or cap and sunglasses. Sunscreen and mosquito repellent (optional). Comfortable shoes that can get wet. Swimsuit or shorts and a T-shirt. Cash for optional DVDs and photographs.
PLEASE NOTE Personal cameras, including GoPros, are used at the guest's own risk. Standard cameras are not recommended. The operator provides a photographer in a kayak, with photographs available for purchase.

The “High Water” rafting season runs approximately from the middle of January to middle of July, depending upon the water level each year. •Guest hike down into the gorge at rapid #7, #10 or #14 (this has a gradient of 1 in 3, it is fairly steep and tricky) a person of average fitness can manage this in approximately 20 minutes. •At the end of the trip at rapid #25 a gondola cable car will transfer guests up the 750ft Batoka Gorge

- Surf the Zambezi River below the Falls on a body-board accompanied by an expert. - Wild and exciting, these trips combine those rapids which can be ‘surfed’ on the board with the bigger ones which have to be ridden from the raft. - These trips link in with the rafting schedules and itineraries and are only available during the low water season.
