Robben Island, the unique symbol of “the triumph of the human spirit over adversity, suffering and injustice” with a rich 500 year old multi-layered history, is visited every year by thousands of people eager to understand and honour the important aspects of South Africa’s history that the Island represents.

Currently; RIM has tours that runs as follows; 09h00, 11h00, 13h00 and 15h00. The ferries depart from the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V & A Waterfront. The tour takes 3.5 hours including the ferry trip to and from the Island (Depending on the boat used as they have different travel times).

This is where the ferry for Robben Island leaves from. The ticket office also has a little museum and a curio shop.

Rates are ZAR550 per person for non-South Africans (or about USD 30). Bookings essential, and activities if very dependent on weather. Booking online with credit card is the best method, so if weather conditions cancel the tour, refunds are processed automatically.
