Central Station was originally a forestry camp established in the days when logging was still allowed on Fraser Island. There were around 30 houses and a school for the loggers’ children.

A display botanical garden was planted almost a 100 years ago, and today the mature Kauri Pines, Bunya Pines, Satinays and Flooded Gums tower over the picnic areas and displays explaining the development of the island and its fauna and flora. There is also a short boardwalk that runs round Wanggoolba Creek and through the beautiful Fraser Island rainforest.
