On the very tip of a rocky headland, the Tip of Cape York is the northernmost point of mainland Australia. It is marked with a sign that reads: "You are standing at the northernmost point of mainland Australia," creating photo-opportunities for those who want to prove that they were there.

The tip can be reached on foot from a car park that is located about a 15-minute walk away. It is an easy walk, making it possible to carry a picnic basket and settle down for a picnic whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings and views.
