Stretching south and east from the Izu Peninsula on the Japanese island of Honshu, the Izu Islands are a group of idyllic little volcanic islands. This volcanic chain extends 300 kilometres into the Pacific Ocean and forms part of the Tokyo Prefecture. Although traditionally referred to as the “Izu Seven”, there are more than a dozen islands and islets to explore. This is a paradise for water sport enthusiasts offering excellent opportunities for swimming, scuba diving, surfing, fishing and snorkelling. Visitors can also enjoy the scenic beauty by hiking up the dormant volcanoes, strolling along pristine beaches, or island hopping via the daily ferries that run up and down the archipelago.
