Swakopmund Museum
The Swakopmund Museum is located in Strand Street beneath the lighthouse at Swakopmund’s Mole. It was founded in 1951 by the dentist Dr. Alfons Weber and is Namibia’s largest private museum. Namibia’s colonial history, the Atlantic Ocean, as well as Namibia’s flora and fauna are the museums main themes. This charming museum has a very special appeal to its visitors and one should not let this opportunity slip.

Crystal Gallery
Situated the in heart of Swakopmund the Crystal Gallery offers an extensive collection of gemstones and crystals, which are common in Southern Africa. A unique centrepiece is the world largest crystal – an enormous tourmaline. It was found on Farm Otjua near Karibib. The exhibition is displayed over many rooms and over two floors. Visitors can also take a walk through an artificial grotto, which ends in a pool of gemstones. These and other gemstones and crystals are on display. Aquamarine, ruby, different colours of garnet and tourmaline, emerald, sapphire, opal, jade egg, topaz, fire opal, moonstone and many more can be seen.
