Patan Durbar Square, located at the heart of Patan in Nepal, is a historic palace complex renowned for its rich cultural heritage. Once the seat of the Malla kings, the square is adorned with intricately carved temples, shrines, and royal courtyards. Known locally as Mangal Bazaar, it has been a centre of royal power since at least the 7th century, as evidenced by ancient inscriptions. The existing palace, largely attributed to King Vishnu Malla in 1734 AD, reflects the grandeur of medieval architecture. Since 1997, the site has housed the Patan Museum, preserving its legacy for future generations.
