Found in the Gandaki Province of north-central Nepal, the Annapurna massif forms part of the Nepalese Himalayas and is bounded by the Kali Gandaki Gorge on the west, the Marshyangdi River on the north and east, and by Pokhara Valley on the south. This world-class trekking destination comprises nine separate peaks at a stretch of 55km and is known for its challenging trails. However, intrepid travellers are rewarded by the awe-inspiring vistas of rugged purple-blue mountains, mist-shrouded valleys and spectacular snow-capped peaks. The popular Annapurna Circuit trek circles the Annapurna Range, while the Kaligandaki River Valley trek ascends to the world's deepest valley. The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek promises a soak in the Jhinu Danda hot springs, and the more manageable Poon Hill Trek winds through quaint villages and dense jungles before reaching an altitude of 3200m.
