Lake Petén Itzá in the Peten region of Guatemala beckons nature enthusiasts to explore the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The lake covers an area of 99 square kilometres, is 32 kilometres long, five kilometres wide and approximately 160 metres deep. The surrounding area features over 100 indigenous animal species such as crocodiles, white-tailed deer, spider monkeys, and jaguars. Additional attractions include approximately 27 Mayan sites situated around the lake.
