Located in Sri Lanka, Fort (Colombo) is the central business district of Colombo. The area is steeped in history dating back to the 16th century when the Portuguese built a fortified trading post to serve the island. Tourists can explore the area which features remains of the fort such as the Delft Gate which was one of three entrances into the fort, part of a wall that protected the Battenburg Battery in the harbour area and many more. The area is home to financial institutions, government departments and museums.
