Located in the heart of Colombo, the Galle Face Green is a 5-hectare ocean-side urban park situated between Galle Road and the Indian Ocean. The Galle Face Green is a beautiful strip of land covered in greenery, surrounded by tall towers and buildings. The strip is considered to be the most abundant open space in Colombo and is a popular attraction for many people who want to indulge in their favourite pastimes next to the sea. On weekends, Visitors can find many day trippers, picnickers and food vendors selling cooked crabs and prawns as well as slices of mango with pepper and salt. The strip is also used as the site for Sri Lanka's national day celebration held annually on 4 February.
