Located in the southern part of the Ratnapura District in Sri Lanka, the small town of Udawalawe is surrounded by incredible natural beauty. The town provides the perfect gateway to the Udawalawe National Park, one of the best places in Sri Lanka to see wild Asian Elephants all year round. The biodiverse park also provides an important habitat for waterbirds, 135 species of butterfly, and a variety of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. The surrounding landscapes are characterised by lush forests, grasslands, marshes, and decorated by the Walawe River and its tributaries. Udawalawe is also home to the Udawalawa Reservoir, the third-largest reservoir in the country.
