Swimming with sea lion puppies at the permanent sea lion colony of Los Islotes is truly one of life's great joys. These fun-loving marine mammals love playing and interacting with humans, and are always disappointed that we can never keep up a game of tag as long as they can. Getting to the sea lion colony is half the fun, as we regularly see dolphins, whales, mantas, sea turtles, coastal birds and more on the way there and back. Swimming with sea lions is included in the Camp Cecil experience.
Stand up paddle boarding at Camp Cecil de la Isla is a great way to explore the shoreline and sea around the camp. Sea turtles love the algae that grows on the ocean floor in front of the camp, and often when we're out paddle boarding the turtles pop up around the boards when they come up to take a breath! Stand up paddle boarding is included in the Camp Cecil experience.
The Sea of Cortez is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to 39% of the world's total number of marine mammal species, accounts for a third of the world´s marine cetacean species, and also has 891 fish species. While at Camp Cecil you will have your snorkeling gear and wet suit with you at all times. There is great snorkeling right in front of the camp as well as other spots that we visit around the island. Snorkeling is included in the Camp Cecil experience.
Over 430 bird species have been spotted in Baja California Sur and it is home to six endemic species as well. It is a wonderful place to observe our feathered friends. Birding is included in the Camp Cecil experience.

Espiritu Xantus Cafe is widely considered one of the best restaurants in the vicinity of La Paz, a feat made all the more remarkable when you consider that they are creating all that magic in a 10x12 tent with a 3 burner stove! Our chefs buy fish right at the island from the Puppos, 81 and 91 year old brothers who have a fishing camp one bay over from Camp Cecil. Meals include cold breakfast, hot breakfast, lunch, dinner and daily happy hour as well.
