The Kalon Minaret is a minaret located in the city of Bukhara, Uzbekistan. It is one of the most iconic landmarks of the city and is considered a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. The minaret was built in 1127 under the rule of Arslan Khan, and is part of the complex of buildings that make up the Po-i-Kalyan square. Kalon Minaret stands at a height of 45.6 metres and is decorated with intricate brickwork and Kufic calligraphy. The Kalon Minaret has survived multiple earthquakes and invasions over the centuries and is considered a symbol of the resilience of the city of Bukhara. The minaret is a popular tourist attraction and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
