The Batwa Cultural Village offers a unique glimpse into the lives of the Batwa people, also known as Pygmies, who have maintained their traditional way of living in tree houses. Having begun to leave their forest homes only about 15 years ago, the Batwa have been able to remain on this land thanks to the generosity of an American benefactor who donated the land back to them and established a cultural program. Visitors to the village can engage with the Batwa as they demonstrate traditional practices such as weapon making, fire starting with sticks, cooking, and dancing. The fees collected from tourists directly support the Batwa project, allowing them to preserve their rich cultural heritage while sharing it with the world. This immersive experience not only highlights their historical lifestyle but also raises awareness about the challenges they face today.
