Plaza de Bolívar, located in the centre of Bogotá between Carrera Séptima and Octava, is the city’s most emblematic square. Visitors can stroll across its expansive 13,903 square metres, feed pigeons, join cultural gatherings, or admire surrounding landmarks such as the Cathedral Primada and the Capitolio Nacional. Historically, the plaza has served as a marketplace, a site for royal proclamations, circuses, and even executions of national heroes. The bronze statue of Simón Bolívar, installed in 1876, remains its defining feature.
