Mount Rinjani is an active volcano on the island of Lombok, Indonesia. As the second-highest volcano in Indonesia, it dominates the landscape and forms the centrepiece of Rinjani National Park. The mountain features a vast caldera containing the striking turquoise crater lake, Segara Anak, as well as hot springs and a smaller volcanic cone known as Barujari. Its diverse terrain ranges from tropical forests and savannah to rugged volcanic slopes, supporting a wide variety of plant and animal life. Mount Rinjani is a popular destination for trekkers, who are rewarded with sweeping views across Lombok, Bali and the surrounding seas. For local Sasak and Balinese communities, it also holds deep spiritual significance, with pilgrimage rituals and offerings reflecting its cultural importance.
