The Illiniza Norte, located in the Andes of Ecuador within the Illinizas Ecological Reserve southwest of Quito, is a prominent volcanic mountain peak. Visitors can hike or climb the mountain using routes that involve walking trails and sections of scrambling over rocky terrain, often as part of acclimatisation for higher altitude climbs. The mountain reaches an elevation of about 5,126 metres and forms part of a twin peak system with Illiniza Sur, having once been a single volcano that later separated, and it may occasionally experience snow and ice conditions depending on the weather.
