Located at the southern-most tip of New Zealand, Stewart Island is the nation’s third largest island, with a current population of just over 380 people, most of whom live in the only town, Oban. The island generates much of its revenue from tourism, being one of the most pristine and unique environments accessible to man. It is renowned for its diverse and abundant birdlife, as well as sightings of the Aurora australis (Southern Lights), which are frequently visible here.
