Abai Jungle Restaurant & Lodge is a simple but comfortable lodge located right by the Kinabatagan River and is a lodge we often use for a first night in the Kinabatangan River area prior to a night in Sukau.
The location in Abai River is only accessibly by river. The lodge and restaurant are both staffed by local tribal people.
The location is exceptional and is a great base for boat trips along the Kinabatangan. There are walkways around the lodge, none of which is longer than 800 metres. They are all hard plank walkways. There are also some bird watching towers around the lodge.
Abai Jungle Lodge was built behind the restaurant in June 2005 and is an area of secondary rainforest, safe from flooding year round. The restaurant serves up great meals which combine local and Western menus.
Chalets are simply furnished with polished wood floors and simple local decor and are all within an easy walk of the restaurant. There are some rooms suitable for families and all rooms have ceiling fans and en-suite bathrooms.
