One of the best kept secrets in the Lowveld is the fabulous Graeme Naylor Museum, located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve.
It’s packed with interesting and fascinating displays that unlock many secrets of the natural history of the area. One display is devoted to the famous white lions of the Timbavati - only when you stand next to one of these mythical creatures do you realize how big they are. Another display showcases the dozens of species of freshwater fish found in South Africa - who would have thought you’d find so many species in such an arid area? Another fascinating display that shows how elephants go through many sets of molars in a lifetime, as well as a huge variety of spectacularly beautiful moths and butterflies.
These displays and many other are all there waiting for you to “discover.”
Scenic Heli Flip - The duration of this epic flight is approximately one hour. The helicopter will depart from the lodge and route towards the Blyde River Canyon. During this flight you will get a unique perspective of the Kadishi waterfall, Three Rondawels, Blyde River, Burke’s Luck Potholes, Treur and Belvidere Rivers.
Anti-Poaching Flip - Nothing surpasses the feeling of being successful on a mission to rescue an orphaned rhino calf Join our ant poaching team in a flight over the reserve to see them in action.
Experience a night in our adventure sleep out hide. Set on the banks of Nduna (“Old wise man”) Dam where abundant game come to drink, this raised sleep-out deck is beyond your wildest expectations. This is the ideal romantic experience for the adventurous. Whether you are celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary, you will have the experience of a lifetime.
Game drives are included in the package and take place in the morning and the afternoon. They are about 3 hours in duration. During the game drive you will have a stop for either morning tea and coffee in the bush, or afternoon sundowners.
Nothing beats the magic of a bush walk - seeing big animals or the small wonders on foot.
