Kafunta Safaris has added a new bush camp to their collection – Three Rivers Camp. As the name suggests, Three Rivers Camp is located at the confluence of the Luangwa, Luzangazi and Kapamba Rivers. The new location is about 2 hours south of Kafunta River Lodge, about 7 km up-river from Island Bush Camp. The area features open lagoons and is teeming with wildlife including big herds of elephant and buffalo, giraffe, antelope, wild dog and much more.
Three Rivers and Island Bush Camps are the only safari operations in the area so you can be assured of a real private safari in a pristine area of the Luangwa Valley. The camp includes five sophisticated tents, each with its own raised sleeping platform, with the option of a night under the African sky.
This seasonal camp will offer both game drives and bush walks. It will also be possible to walk from Three Rivers to Island, or vice versa. A combination with Kafunta River Lodge is however always recommended to maximise game viewing.
The camp features 5 sophisticated tents, stylishly decorated with natural hues and material. The bedroom is very spacious with twin beds, and a sitting area, large gauze windows overlooking either the Luangwa River or the lagoon. The en-suite bathroom includes 2 sinks, a flushing toilet and offers the choice between an indoor and outdoor shower.
Each tent has its own outdoor patio, but most importantly its own connected and raised platform with day beds which will be turned down at night to offer the opportunity to sleep under the stars under the protection of a mosquito net.

Three Rivers Camp is in a very remote and wild location, and game drives will take guests to various locations in the Eastern side of the park (in the South).
Being a fairly new camp (opened in 2017), and a seasonal one, animals are not as habituated to vehicles as what is expected in other parts of the park. Which makes game drive even more exciting as animals react naturally to us intruding on their territories. A wide range of antelopes not usually found in the Mfuwe area can be seen here.
Vehicles have a shade roof, and will accommodate maximum 6 guests.
Three Rivers Camp is ideally located to explore the bush by foot.
Bush walks bring a different experience to the safari, focusing on smaller animals, critters, birds and flora. Bigger animals are also often seen such as elephants, giraffes, antelopes and occasionally predators such as lions, leopards and wild dogs.
Certified safari guide and escort scout provided.
Unfortunately children under the age of 12 are not authorised on bush walks.
Dining at Three Rivers Camp is a taking place al fresco on the banks of the Luangwa River. Fresh supplies are used to produce stellar meals throughout the day.
From the early breakfast to the after dinner drink, the camp kitchen and bar staff will make sure to deliver the highest standard expected of Kafunta Safaris properties.
Three Rivers Camp can cater for most dietaries.
