La Fortuna Waterfall is located within a 210-acre biological reserve in the Arenal Volcano National Park area of Costa Rica, at an elevation of 520 metres. Surrounded by premontane tropical wet forest, the reserve encompasses native trees, mountain springs and the Fortuna River, with striking geological formations including Cerro de los Perdidos, Placas de Mayo and Cerro Chato. The 70-metre waterfall is reached via a path of approximately 530 steps, with secure walkways and comfortable areas for rest and hydration along the route. At the waterfall, visitors can enjoy the spacious viewing area, take photographs and swim in the clear waters of the Fortuna River. The natural area is sustainably managed by ADIFORT, with visitor funds supporting community projects in infrastructure, environmental protection, education, sport and culture.
