San Ignacio Ruins is located in Northeast Argentina. The ruins were once known as the San Ignacio MinĂ which was established by Jesuits during the 17th century with the aim of converting the native GuaranĂ people. The mission complex has a few buildings which surround a central courtyard. The ruins have been well preserved due to restoration works and it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. The ruins were closed to the public during the 90's due to instability. Today it is open for visitors to view and explore.
